Eagles at Steelers Week 5: Game Preview, Odds, and Prediction

Game Preview

The in-State rivalry between the Pittsburgh Steeles and Philadelphia Eagles will be renewed Sunday. Both teams currently sit atop their respective divisions despite a 1-2-1 record for the Eagles.

Conversely, the Steelers right now sit at 3-0 on the season and are looking to go 4-0 for just the fourth time in franchise history.

How the Steelers can win:

A great day for the Steelers defense. Philadelphia has a lot of injuries right now. If the Steelers can take advantage of match-ups they could make it a long day for the Eagles offense. I also like the match-up of Pittsburgh’s passing game versus the Eagles secondary. If, of course, the offensive line can give Roethlisberger time to throw.

How the Eagles can win:

Get pressure on Ben Roethlisberger and stop the run. If the Eagles front seven can have a big day it would go a long win in winning this game. Pressure on Roethlisberger may not be enough, though, the Eagles may also need some turnovers to win this one.

Game Odds

The Steelers enter this week as seven-point favorites over the Eagles. The over/under for this week is set at 44 points.

Best bets:

Steelers -7 – I fully expect this to be a close game in the first-half. I also expect the Steelers to pull away in the second half of this game. So far this year the Steelers defense has played very well in the second half of games and I trust the Pittsburgh offense much more than Philadelphia’s.

Over 44 – This is a fairly low line. The Steelers and Eagles have had one combined game go under this number. That was week 1 for the Steelers against the New York Giants. There should be enough scoring this week to get over this number.

Ben Roethlisberger Yards Prop – Philadelphia has a very good run defense. That means the Steelers may be forced to pass the ball more on offense if they can’t establish the run. This means more pass attempts, and more yards, for Roethlisberger.

Game Prediction

The Steelers move to 4-0 on the season with another big second half from their defense.

Steelers 30 – Eagles 17
