There has been a lot of talk so far this week about the Steelers 3-0 start. One of the main talking points regarding their start is that the three teams the Steelers have played currently sit at a combined record of 0-9. Sure that may mean they haven’t played a great team yet this season, but they also haven’t dropped a game to a team they should have beat.
Let’s also remember that the Steelers don’t get to choose who they play and they have to play who’s on their schedule. Also, lets look at some other teams coming up on the schedule.
The Tennessee Titans, who the Steelers play next week, are also 3-0 against teams with a combined 1-8 record. Each of those games was decided a field goal or less. So, even though the Titans look like a quality team they aren’t the world beaters some may try and make them out to be prior to next weeks match-up.
Also, let’s take a look at the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore also beat the 0-3 Houston Texans. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs, by far the best team they have played this season. Their second win came within the division against the Cleveland Browns.
Yes, the Browns are 2-1 on the season, but they have only beat two very poor teams in the Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Football Team. So, anyone who wants to talk about the Steelers not playing anyone may want to also pay attention to the fact that the same thing can be said for many of the teams on their upcoming schedule.
In fact, given their upcoming schedule the Steelers, if they take care of business, could be in a great spot heading into their bye week in Week 8 of the season.
