Steelers Comeback Beat Texans 28-21 Behind Strong Defensive Second Half

The Pittsburgh Steelers have moved to 3-0 on the young 2020 NFL season. Expectations for this season were high coming in and, to this point, the Steelers have proven to be up to the task. Last year, the Steelers struggled to put up points without their star quarterback. With Ben Roethlisberger back on the field the Steelers were expected to bounce back in a big way on offense.

My biggest question for this team, though, had nothing to do with Roethlisberger. Instead, I wondered if the defense would maintain their intensity from 2019. During the 2019 season the defense knew that they had to keep teams from scoring many points if they wanted a chance to win.

Now, with their star quarterback returned they have a lot of weight lifted off their shoulders. So far, so good however, for the Steelers defense. They look like they haven’t missed a stride from last season and may have the ability to be even better this season.

During today’s game the offense was able to put up 28 points and although the defense struggled in the first half, they made amends in the second half. During the second half the Steelers defense allowed less than 100 yards total offense to a quality offense and pitched a second half shut out.

The Steelers are 3-0 and will face the 3-0 Tennessee Titans in Week 4, which has all the makings of the game of the week.
